A Collaboration of Creativity and Friendship: The Making of MsiCandi 2.0

It's amazing how a single conversation can spark a transformation. When my good friend Vernell from Dillingham Film & Photography suggested a rebranding photoshoot, I couldn't have imagined the impact it would have on my journey as MsiCandi.
As a creative, I've faced my fair share of ups and downs, and after experiencing a divorce and the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis, I found myself hesitant to step back into the media world. But Vernell's unwavering support and encouragement helped me realize it was time to embrace a fresh start.
And so, the concept of MsiCandi 2.0 was born.
With new podcasts and content in the works, I knew it was the perfect time to rebrand myself. My goal has always been to remain true to my roots while continuing to evolve and grow as an individual. And boy, have I grown! The experiences and challenges I've faced over the years have shaped me into the person I am today—a stronger, more self-aware version of myself.
The planning process for the photoshoot was a testament to the power of collaboration and friendship. Vernell and I discussed the vision for the rebranding, and his expertise and passion for photography were invaluable.
I also brought in my dear friend Ms Mocha for assistance. Many of you know Ms Mocha as a personality for iCandi TV and my co-host for 2 Hot Chicks, but she also has a passion for fashion. As Mocha embarks on a journey as a stylist, it was the perfect opportunity for her to showcase her talent by styling me for the rebranding photoshoot. And she truly delivered!
My daughter, London, joined me as my assistant for the day (and yes, she was paid for her hard work!). Her job was to capture behind-the-scenes content, and I must say, she did an amazing job! I'm so proud of my mini-me and the budding creative she's becoming.
On the day of the shoot, I was filled with a mix of excitement and nerves. To ensure I looked my best, I started my day at Thee Make Up Room, my go-to spot for all my makeup needs. The talented Rachel Wynn, owner and makeup artist, has been with me since the beginning, and I'm grateful for our lasting professional relationship.

Once we arrived at the venue, which was beautiful (Studio 821 in Newport Ky) I felt a wave of confidence and empowerment wash over me.
Mocha instantly go to work laying out outfits and accessories, Vernell set up and it was on. I really go to focus on just being the talent and my team make me look like a superstar. Vernell’s guidance and encouragement throughout the shoot were the perfect reminders of why I love creating and sharing my journey with the world. MsMocha’s fashion expertise helped remind me that I’m STILL that girl! The resulting photos truly capture the essence of MsiCandi 2.0—a version of myself that is stronger, more self-aware, and ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
