So, we just came off a major winter storm here in Ohio, and my city was lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it!) to receive nine inches of snow. Schools were closed, work was shut down, and even now, some streets are still a mess.
Thankfully, most of us had time to prepare in advance—stocking up on groceries and making sure we had everything we needed. But when you’re snowed in for three days with a teen and a little one, you’ve got to get creative! We spent the time watching movies, playing games, coloring, and, of course, taking naps.
But the best part? Getting outside and playing in the snow!
Snow Day Fun with My Babies

I couldn’t let all this fresh snow go to waste, so of course, I had to bundle up and join my babies for some fun! We laughed, threw snow around, and made the most of being stuck at home together.

My youngest, of course, took “playing in the snow” to a whole new level! He was literally in the snow—laughing, making snow angels, and just enjoying being a kid.
After an hour or so of running around in the cold, we finally came inside, peeled off the layers, and got warm again. And that’s when I realized I was missing something.
I had the movies, the games, the naps… but I hadn’t taken full advantage of my music!
A DJ’s Snow Day Necessity: The Perfect Playlist 🎧
For those who don’t know, I come from a DJ family. My father, DJ Cisco, was well-known in the late ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. He started as a club DJ, but once I was born, he focused more on private parties—wedding receptions, birthdays, family reunions, bike club events, and more. As a kid, I’d go to gigs with him, watching and learning everything.
By age 11, I was DJing my own parties and building my own clientele. I took a break for a while but got back into it about seven years ago with my co-host Ms. Mocha, and together we became 2 Hot Chicks DJs. And let me tell you, we’ve been doing pretty well!
So, naturally, when I’m stuck in the house, music is a must. Back in the CD era, I was the go-to person for mix CDs—customized for every mood and vibe. Now, in the streaming era, that same love for curating music has turned into playlist-making.
And since another 3 to 5 inches of snow is on the way, I figured it’s time to take full advantage of the perfect snow day playlist.

The Vibe: Grown & Sexy, R&B Lover’s Dream
Anybody who knows me knows I’m an R&B girly through and through. And not just one type of R&B—I love it all.
Neo-Soul (Erykah, Jill, India.Arie… the vibes!)
Classic R&B (Anita, Luther, Whitney—LEGENDS!)
Bluesy R&B (That deep, soulful, rich sound.)
Grown & Sexy (Late-night, candle-lit energy.)
Throwback & New School (Something for my grandparents, my generation, and my daughter’s era!)
This playlist is five hours of uninterrupted R&B magic. Whether you’re snowed in, sipping something warm, relaxing, or setting the mood, this playlist will take you on a journey.
How to Listen 🎧
I won’t list every song here (because where’s the fun in that?), but I will break down the five moods I created for this playlist. If you want the full experience, you can listen to the playlist on:

And Yes… I was out in the snow!

Because let’s be real—playing with my kiddos and creating memories is just as important as curating the perfect snow day playlist. This weekend was about balance—fun outside, cozy vibes inside, and of course, good music to match the moment.
